Good Site: The Daily Worse Than Failure

Good Website

Viewport

The viewport of the page is the entirety of the available screen real estate.

Owner Identification

The site is clearly identifiable, as a large header image describes the page mission and identifies the page name. The editor's name, however, is only identifiable when you spend some time reading the featured articles and posts.

Site Structure

The page is sub-divided into seven main categories. Articles, posted under these categories are sequentially listed on the front page, allowing for quick and easy overview over the lastest additions.

Top Level Navigation

The categories are represented in the primary navigation bar at the side. This bar stays with you at all times and can be used to select a different category quickly and easily.

Interfaces

Many internal links allow for toggling featured comments on and off. This makes it easy to ignore certain content materials that one is not interested int.

Content Structure

The page is designed blog-style, meaning, that new content is posted in one of the seven main categories. Hence, the content is well structured and browsable without the need of search functions or pain killers. Old content can be retrieved in more than just one way... one can browse, follow the links to similar articles or simply use the google powered search function.

Images

Every article features an appropriate image that has an ideal size that does not distract from the text but introduces the text nicely.

Secondary Navigation

Secondary navigation limits itself to show only links to the previous and next posted article. This makes it easy to read the site like a magazine. Links are present to toggle user posted comments on and off.
